Zagame House

,

Hawthorn

Zagame Place, abutting real estate already held by the Zagame’s hospitality empire established in 1971, marks the reconciliation and redevelopment of an expansive parcel of land in Hawthorn, Melbourne.

Public and private terraces

The commercial precinct’s northerly aspect and indented area (once limited to parking use) capture year-round northern light and an impactful arrival experience.

Tiered landscaped seating

Featuring a spacious atrium bathed in natural light and a cohesive aesthetic that bridges interior spaces with landscaped areas, highlighted by mature trees and tiered seating.

By repurposing the under-utilised parking area, a functional and inviting landscape environment has been shaped that balances architectural solidity with delicate landscape details. Incorporating drought-resistant Australian and exotic plant species such as Kangaroo paw, lilly pilly, native grasses, and crepe myrtle alongside exotic shrubs and ground covers, the design emphasises year-round interest and sustainability, resulting in public and private terraces that foster a residential garden ambience.
