South Yarra

Goldfields House at 627 Chapel St, designed by COX Architects, represents a culmination of nearly twenty years of meticulous planning.

A contribution to South Yarra’s cultivation of a thriving mixed-use precinct.

Strategically placed green spaces

The commercial tower stands out with its fluid-glazed facade, strategically placed green spaces and retail amenities that enhance pedestrian activity and community engagement.

Widened footpaths, inbuilt seating, and lush gardens

Integrated feature signage

The meticulously planned development artfully integrates urban design elements with landscape architecture to enrich the public realm. With features like widened footpaths, inbuilt seating, and lush gardens seamlessly wrapping around the ground-floor restaurant, alongside a vibrant green belt that intersects the towers at their halfway point, the design thoughtfully cultivates a vibrant community atmosphere.

Incorporating climbers such as star jasmine, preserving existing street trees, and crafting a fluid transition between public and private spaces are central to the design. Features like bike parking, bench seating, and creatively integrated signage with plantings enhance the overall experience, creating a welcoming and cohesive environment.

Collaboration with council and architectural teams has been essential in achieving a unified vision that harmonises with the surrounding context. Every detail, from the plantings to the placement of seating, has been carefully considered to ensure a visually cohesive and engaging precinct.
