Sutherland Road

Armadale

— This collaboration with JCB to transform a former Golden Crust Bakery into a family home led to a series of outdoor zones for tranquillity, play, swimming and even a small vegetable garden.

A 20-metre, above-ground pool gave the courtyard a dramatic centrepiece, with a local Victorian sawn bluestone used around the pool and in the paving. Elsewhere, the material palette was respectful of the original building’s industrial roots with the use of materials such as black steel, recycled timber and local Victorian bluestone.
